Advanced Material Recovery
SBM Tech aims to lead the industry in sustainable processing of End-of-Life (EOL) Lithium-Ion Batteries.
Closed-Loop Production
Specializing in transforming black mass into high-purity precursor Cathode Active Materials (pCAM) and Cathode Active Materials (CAM).
Lifecycle Extension & Industrial ESS
Optimizing energy resources by integrating second-life battery systems into high-capacity industrial grids, commercial facilities, and utility-scale storage applications.
Revolutionizing Battery Recycling
Our process involves first physically pre-treating spent batteries, then using hydrometallurgy to extract and separate metals so that they can be reused
The mechanical processing includes:
Physical Disassembly
Optimizing automated mechanical sorting for maximum material recovery with minimal environmental footprint.
Universal Chemistry Processing
Engineered to efficiently handle both ternary (NMC) and LFP battery chemistries.
High-Yield Black Mass
Generating a highly concentrated mixture of cathode, carbon black, and PVDF.
Closing the Battery Supply Chain Loop
After battery materials are processed into black mass, SBM TECH LTD. uses advanced hydrometallurgical technology to recover valuable metals that can be reused in new battery production.
Leaching
Black mass is treated using carefully controlled, environmentally conscious leaching solutions that dissolve valuable metals into liquid form. This process is designed to maximize recovery efficiency while minimizing waste generation.
Purification & Separation
The metal-rich solution is then refined using advanced separation technologies such as solvent extraction, ion exchange, and precipitation. These processes remove impurities and isolate individual battery metals with high precision.
Metal Recovery
Finally, the purified metals are recovered through processes such as crystallization and electrowinning, producing high-purity nickel, cobalt, manganese, and lithium suitable for reuse in battery manufacturing and other industrial applications.
Black Mass
End-of-life batteries are physically processed to produce black mass.
Leaching
Black mass is subjected to an acid leaching process to dissolve the metal content into a solution.
Purification
The leach solution is purified to ensure impurity removal and separation of nickel, manganese, and cobalt ions.
Co-Purification
Purified metal ions are co-precipitated to form a mixed hydroxide/ carbonate precursor for optimal NMC performance.
Calcination
Precursor goes through high-temperature calcination to become final CAM with optimized crystallinity and electrochemical properties.
CAM
End material is high-quality cathode active material (CAM) ideal for use in next-generation lithium-ion batteries.
